I thought I'd post a picture with the progress I've made on my crocheted sock monkey. I know I used big stitches (I used a double crochet when most people making crocheted softies I think use a single crochet) but he's got a date with a washer and dryer as I plan to felt him afterwards and thought that the felting process would close the gaps a little. This is all an experiment by the way. I made up my own pattern as I went along (just noticed too that I forgot his ears...oh well, that way he can't hear me talking about dunking him in hot water...muhaha!) and did write it down so I can try to relay it to you. I might try this super simple one first and then do a more advanced one a little later on. I also don't know what's going to happen when I felt this yarn as it's the first time I've used it. Sometimes when I boil wool felt to make it a little more "primitive" looking, it looses some of the color. I hope that doesn't happen with this as I picked out the yarn just because it did look exactly like a sock you would use to make a monkey and I don't want the color to just disappear on me. So we will just have to wait and see what happens. I'll let you follow along the way and if it does all work out in the end, I will put together a step by step tutorial with photos to go along with the pattern.
By the way, today is my 250th post! Oh my gosh, do I really talk that much. You betcha. That's also why I have an "all you can call" talk plan on my home phone!
